WP

Wanchai Phongphan

Chiang Mai · March 2025

"I had a decent grasp of saving but had never sat down and looked at everything in one place. The first programme helped me do that. The reference binder is still on my desk and I look at it regularly."

Programme: Financial Clarity for the Middle Years

SN

Siriporn Nualsakun

Chiang Mai · February 2025

"The portfolio course was exactly what I needed. I had mutual funds I hadn't really examined in three years. Working through them with an instructor — someone who would actually discuss them — was genuinely useful. The one-to-one reviews were the best part."

Programme: Mid-Career Portfolio Design

RT

Robert Thorne

Chiang Mai (UK expat) · January 2025

"As a foreigner who has lived in Thailand for twelve years, I was surprised how much Thai-specific financial context I had missed. The material on Thai estate law and accounts was something I genuinely could not have found elsewhere in this form. A good investment."

Programme: Comprehensive Later-Life Planning Academy

Araya Thawornwong

Lamphun · March 2025

"I had been putting off thinking about my will and my parents' assets for years because I didn't know where to begin. The academy structured it all. Having an actual attorney in the room answering questions — not hypotheticals, but real questions — made a real difference."

Programme: Comprehensive Later-Life Planning Academy

Prasert Komsakun

Chiang Mai · December 2024

"The sessions moved at a sensible pace. I work full time and I had been worried it would be too demanding, but the 90-minute format with recordings available was manageable. I came out with a much clearer sense of what I have and what I should be thinking about."

Programme: Financial Clarity for the Middle Years

JM

Janet Mercer

Chiang Mai (Australian) · November 2024

"The portfolio programme gave me a framework I had been missing. I had been reading fund reports without really knowing what I was looking for. After nine weeks I can evaluate what I hold with much more confidence. The portfolio template is genuinely practical."

Case Studies

Learner journeys in detail

The following are composite accounts drawn from real programme experiences, with identifying details changed.

Case Study · Programme One

The situation

A 47-year-old school administrator in Chiang Mai with savings in two Thai banks, a pension through her employer, and a small condo purchased with her husband. She had never looked at everything in one place and wasn't confident reading her provident fund statements.

What the programme covered

Over six weeks, she built a complete financial inventory, learned to read provident fund and brokerage statements accurately, and mapped out a savings rhythm that accounted for her parents' healthcare needs and her children's schooling.

Outcome

She left with a complete financial inventory in her printed binder and could describe her net position clearly for the first time. She reported feeling significantly less anxious about financial conversations with her husband and her bank relationship manager.

Case Study · Programme Three

The situation

A 58-year-old retired engineer, originally from Germany and resident in Chiang Mai for eleven years. He had assets in both Thailand and Germany, no Thai will, and had been putting off estate planning because he didn't know how Thai inheritance law applied to him.

What the programme covered

Fourteen weeks covering his overall retirement income picture, the estate planning sessions with the Thai attorney (who clarified how Thai law applies to foreign residents), healthcare cost planning given his existing insurance, and a session on family communication with his adult children.

Outcome

He prepared a Thai will with guidance from the programme's estate attorney, clarified how his German and Thai assets would interact, and described the comprehensive binder as "the first document I've produced that would actually help my family if something happened to me."

Case Study · Programme Two

The situation

A 52-year-old business owner in Chiang Mai who had accumulated mutual funds and a few individual Thai stocks over the years but had no coherent approach to managing them. Her holdings had grown through habit rather than design.

What the programme covered

Nine weeks examining her holdings systematically — evaluating each fund for overlap and cost, considering whether her concentration in one sector made sense, and building a rebalancing approach she could maintain independently in future years.

Outcome

She reduced her number of funds and had a clear rationale for each remaining holding. She used the portfolio review template to conduct her first systematic annual review six months after completing the programme, without needing additional support.
